The new CoreChair Elite

Pelvic support only, or pelvic support plus back pad - which is better? Which is the better solution? At Orgatec 2024, Viasit presented the CoreChair Elite - the new version of the CoreChair with additional support for the upper back.

The original inspiration for the CoreChair was the traditional exercise ball, which was popular as a healthy and exercise-promoting alternative to the classic chair. The CoreChair offers the same advantages as the exercise ball, but eliminates its disadvantages: Sitting on the CoreChair's patentised seat is more hygienic and, above all, completely safe and stable. At the same time, the shifting of the activation point exactly under the centre of balance allows the user to enjoy full freedom of movement above and below the hips and pelvis without the risk of falling.

This enables continuous micro-movements of the entire body, and these constant movements have a major health advantage over rigid sitting. This is why the design of the CoreChair's human interface focuses on the neutral and upright positioning of the pelvis as the basis for mobilising the entire musculoskeletal system.
The moulded seat ensures that the user's body weight is evenly distributed on the seat surface, but also prevents the sit bones from sliding forwards. The low pelvic support on the CoreChair Classic complements the moulded seat by supporting the back of the pelvis and thus preventing the pelvis from rotating backwards. When the pelvis is rotated forwards and held in an upright, neutral position, the spine can assume a perfectly balanced double-S alignment along its natural arc of oscillation.  The spine is positioned in such a way that the vertebrae are evenly spaced to protect the intervertebral discs.

The introduction of CoreChair Elite

With the optimum support provided by the original CoreChair, additional support for the upper back is not absolutely necessary. On the contrary: a traditional high backrest would potentially restrict the mobility of the upper body and thus even run counter to the original CoreChair concept.
So if the low pelvic support in combination with the moulded seat is so effective, why are we now introducing high back support?

The answer is simple: the permanent opportunity to move that the CoreChair offers also means a permanent obligation to move - even if the resistance to movement and therefore the intensity of the movement can be regulated. But what if I just want to lie back and relax from time to time - for example when I'm on the phone? We have been asked this question from time to time. So we looked for a solution that adds adequate support for the upper back to the CoreChair concept.

We spent four years carefully analysing anthropometric data and studying the biomechanics of the spine. The result is the CoreChair Elite, an active chair that provides greater support for the upper spine as required and has a patented mechanism that enables the natural extension, flexion and lateral rotation of the spine.

In addition to the original short-back version of the CoreChair, which of course still has its place, the Elite, with its higher and dynamic upper back support, provides another option for people to sit healthily and flexibly - in the knowledge that the best sitting position is always the next one.

Like the Classic version, the CoreChair Elite offers a moulded seat and contoured pelvic support for optimum positioning of the pelvis. The pelvic support has been widened at the sides so that it gently supports the user's elbows in the reclined position, but is not in the way when the user is sitting upright.
While the pelvic support is firmly connected to the moulded seat and holds the pelvis in the optimum position, the back pad is movable and height-adjustable. It is flexibly connected to the pelvic support by a stable support and allows ergonomically harmonised, natural movements of the spine.

The result is a new, equally valid version of the proven CoreChair concept for active sitting with form-fitting back support that provides comfortable support while promoting healthy movement.

High or short? The choice is yours!

If you like pelvic support that promotes an optimal sitting posture while allowing full and free movement of your upper back, the CoreChair Classic is the chair for you.

If you like to lean back occasionally at work, whether on the phone or in a meeting, the CoreChair Elite is a real alternative to all traditional ergonomic chairs.

Both solutions, the CoreChair Classic and the CoreChair Elite, offer equally excellent pelvic positioning, and encourage movement that contributes to a wealth of health benefits, such as improved circulation, hydration of the intervertebral discs, mobilisation of the joints and strengthening of the stabilising core muscles.

Anyone thinking about purchasing a truly healthy piece of seating furniture to combat the potential health consequences of long working days at a desk is advised to carefully research the various functions, adjustment options and purchase options. Viasit will be happy to help you with this.
